Bold Humility

My idea of being humble looked a lot like being quite, maybe a little shy and passive, and definitely meek and mild.

Seeing as how, I am naturally none of those things, I figured I would have to work extra hard to practice humility when I learned that Jesus called for us to be humble.

I had always believed I was too passionate, too outgoing, too big, and the exact opposite of meek and certainly not quite. Hearing the call for humility solidified my feelings of being too much.

Until I learned what humility actually is.

Being humble is not redirecting compliments, because "humility doesn't allow praise".

Being humble doesn't silence your voice, cut you down or cool off your passion.

Being humble, in Jesus, is being bold!

Boldly declaring that YOU are God's favorite. And He has blessed you with gifts and talents and skills and hopes and dreams and a loud mouth and fiery passion. God, Himself, created your direct attitude and your ability to see truth and your bravery to call out the lies. Jesus died for your gift of discernment or mercy or unwavering, love. God created your ability to paint beautiful paintings or sing gorgeous songs. He directly allows your pen to create story, and your heart to create change. The Lord gave you your ability to make things with your hands or teach, or perform on stage. All of your talents were given to you by God.

Jesus was the best at being humble and he was anything but meek or mild. He humbly turned tables over to direct focus on the Lord. He stood in the face of pure evil and humbly spoke truth. He did not lessen himself to being quite. He stood bold and strong in His humility, understanding where His help comes from.

So should we.

We should practice bold humility, claiming victory over the enemy and joy over our gifts and talents. We should learn to accept compliments as acknowledgment of just how amazing our Lord is through each one of us.

Everything about your natural personality was given to you as a gift from your Father. It is not humble to lessen those gifts. True humility is to boast in the hope and love your Father has for you and you for Him.

Bold humility is to accept your talents as gifts from your loving Father. It is to see the beauty you create, just by being you. It is giving all glory to the Lord while reveling in the perfect love He has for each one of us.

Having bold humility is having trust in the One that made you. Trusting that he makes no mistakes, nothing unworthy of love and praise. God made you, exactly the way you are.

Give Him the glory and claim your bold humility.
