Our Mission
Our Reason
The weeks and months following losing Deral were full of tremendous pain, shock and confusion. We were at our lowest low. Life seemed to be moving in hyper-speed all around us while our family felt stuck in a circle of despair and heartache. Even with the crushing reality of loosing our boy, there was no doubt that we were supernaturally encouraged to continue pressing on through the haze. God was so close to us, there seemed to be no choice but to lean in and allow the full strength of Jesus to carry us through the reality we found ourselves in. We were truly living out the scripture found in Psalms 34:18
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Our sweet Father in Heaven spent the first year after Deral’s passing providing encouragement through repeating scripture, reoccurring symbols, unrelenting prayer warriors and placing words upon our hearts. There seemed to be opportunities to share the hope we found in the Lord around every turn. He ignited a desire to write about and share our journey through this new scary world of child loss. We realized that by focusing our energy on sharing the unyielding hope of Jesus, our pain was bearable.
We quickly learned that we had a choice to make. We had to decide whether or not we were going to crumble under the weight of this tragedy or were we going to choose to live, and live well. We spent the next days, weeks and months choosing every day, sometimes each minute, to place all our hope and trust in the Lord. We trust in the fact that the Lord hand picked our family for this life and we get to decide how we are going to respond to that calling. We chose to dismiss the lies of guilt and choose to honor the life our son lived by continuing to live with joy. We, as a family, decided to help other families navigate through their own pain with grace and compassion. Our anthem scripture for our lives is found in Isaiah 40:31
“ but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Grieving is hard, exhausting work. Some days feel like they will wreck us. Running the race of grief cannot be done without placing all of our hope in the One who knows us best. We must choose to pick up our wings and soar.
Our Work
We want to support grieving families by providing resources, prayer and fellowship, We are continually growing our library of free printable graphics to help families realistically navigate the hard realities of death. We have a blog to share real life experiences in hopes of bringing comfort and understanding that none of us are doing this alone. We are working on “Grief Survival Kits” to gift newly bereaved families at no charge. We are working towards providing bereaved families with family portraits honoring their loved one. We are also compiling resources such as therapists and grief groups for every state so that families can search quickly and easily to find the support they need. We are currently working towards establishing our Non-Profit status so we are able accept tax exempt donations to help materialize these resources and gifts.
